Service Overview

Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council has been appointed by the Social Welfare Department to operate the “Hung Hom Community Living Room Project”.  Sino Group/ Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation offers  a premises  for operating “Hung Hom Community Living Room Project” and the Project is subsidised by the Community Care Fund.  The Project brings together the strengths of the Government, the business sector and the community to provide additional living space and extended interpersonal networks to households residing in subdivided units, for enhancing their living standards,  sense of wellbeing and belonging to the community.

 

The Project is tailored to the needs of subdivided unit households.  It not only provides various living facilities and community support services, but also promotes cross-sector collaboration by connecting with business and local organisations to provide in-kind donations and volunteer services.

 

Service Provision

 

  • Living space: Hung Hom Community Living Room offers essential facilities such as shared kitchen/pantry, dining room, living room, study room for students, washing and dryer machines. Hung Hom Community Living Room will provide additional facilities, including children’s playing/reading corner, group activities space, bathroom, etc;

 

  • Community support: provision of homework guidance services, information and talks on living and community resources, etc. Referrals to appropriate community services (e.g. integrated family service centres, integrated children and youth services centres and neighbourhood elderly centres, etc.) will also be made as required; and

 

  • Care and share: The business sector and local organisations will be engaged to provide in-kind donations (e.g. food, food coupon, etc) and volunteer services, among others.

 

 

Target Beneficiaries and Eligibility Criteria

 

Households shall meet the following 3 criteria to enjoy the basic services and facilities offered under the Project free of charge:

  • Residents living in “subdivided units” in Kowloon City district; and
  • At least one household member is a Hong Kong resident; and
  • Meets one of the income eligibility criteria:
  • Received Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (“CSSA”) Scheme in the past 3 months
  • Received Old Age Living Allowance (“OALA”) under the Social Security Allowance Scheme in the past 3 months
  • Received Working Family Allowance Scheme in the past 12 months
  • Received student financial assistance schemes in the past academic year
  • Received Kindergarten and Child Care Center Fee Remission Scheme in the past academic year
  • If the applicant does not meet the criteria mentioned above, an income test will be required.

 

Membership

The "Hung Hum Community Living Room Project” commences its services on July 1, 2024. By becoming a member, you will have access to the services and facilities provided.
