"Walk with Love" Family Development Project Officially Launched Appeal for Donation and Mentor Recruitment Underway

Families and Integrated Services
The launching ceremony of “Walk with Love” Family Development Project was successfully held on 10th March 2013, withnearly a hundred participants including donors, church members, mentors and service users. The implementation of this Project must be attributed to the contribution and dedication of the donors and passion of the mentors who are willing to accompany the beneficiaries to overcome their difficulties.  The Council would like to express deep gratitude to all the honourable donors and mentors, particularly, Hong Kong Women Professionals & Entrepreneurs Association, Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Women’s League, Grandion Industrial Limited, Sheng Kung Hui All Saints’ Cathedral and Rotary Club of Central. In collaboration with the Council, these generous sponsors and partnership organizations help the deprived families move out of poverty and enhance their physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

The target group of this Project is the “N-nothing” families residing in Kowloon city District, who could not benefit from the social welfare provision and live below the poverty line. Families living in sub-divided units (劏房) or rooftop accommodation would be given priority.

The Project consists of a “family development plan” to develop the job skills and competence of the families, eventually help them to achieve self reliance.  Mentors will be arranged for supporting the families to strengthen their social support networks, while community voluntary service would be a means for the families to contribute to the society so as to enhance their self confidence and capabilities.

The Council expects to raise $4 million to benefit 100 deprived families through the Project. Appeal for donation and recruitment of mentors are still underway. Please call 2711 9229 for further enquires.
